Friday, May 30, 2003 Is it just me... or is this cruel? Straight date on gay TV Oh, fondue! It was my friend Cindy's bday on Thurs nite, but we celebrated with her last night - with a home fondue party :) Ok so I may be sheltered or even very "swa koo" [translate: mountain tortoise], but I've never eaten fondue before (unless you consider steamboat as a variation of fondue - "asian" fondue?!) so last night was a new experience for me. My impression of fondue was always dipping stuff into chocolate but in fact, there are many variations! And incorrectly, the original fondue is supposedly melted cheese dip. We had a bit of a difficult time trying to figure out how to make the dip (we did cheese first then chocolate later for dessert) so that we had the perfect consistency - i.e. thick (not too watery) but still runny enough so that it would stick onto the food! Trust me - this is not as easy as it sounds! (or else we're all just totally useless at this!) Anyhow, a tip for any future fondue parties: do not use Coon cheese!! Actually we melted more than one cheese together (Coon + Brie + Philadelphia cream cheese etc) but it was all the Coon's fault. The cheese dip was just too thick that it just wouldn't stick onto the food (we used broccoli, cauliflowers, capsicum, french loaves, carrots) but stayed in clumps. And we added plenty of wine to try to make it watery but yes ... well, that didn't really help! hehe... I think another important thing we realised later was that if you heat the cheese dip for too long; (1) it will become burnt, and (2) thick and impossible to manoeuvre. Hmm, well aside the imperfections, it was still damn tasty! The chocolate dip went fine; firstly we just melted milk chocolate by itself, and after consuming that (very quickly I might add!), the dark chocolate by itself. We dipped a variety of fruits - pineapple, strawberries, mandarin, banana. Very nice! But problems arose when we tried to mix dark chocolate + cream cheese. Theoretically, its supposed to be very nice - like milk chocolate but thicker and very tasty. Um... unfortunately, that was not the case for us. It came out in weird clumps and did not look particularly appetizing. And it wasn't :P But here's tip #2: melt the cream cheese in advance before adding the chocolate. We only discovered this when we read the instructions that came with the fondue kit. D'oh! :o But nevertheless the night was heaps of fun! Thanks Cin - and Happy Birthday babe (again!). Encouraging news The day has finally arrived - Singapore has been taken off the WHO SAR's list! Dammit, but this is bloody damn good news to me. Look out sg peepz, I'm going over in June/July! (on the condition that the current situation is maintained) Please excuse my happiness ... yippeeeeee!! Thursday, May 29, 2003 You hungry? I had grilled salmon for lunch ... mmm. ;) But look at these lunch boxes ! However, I think that they are just too cute to eat ... DONE And now, I'm going to bed. EDIT: I forgot to mention, do you notice any changes? :) so... good, not good? like, don't like? Messy handwriting After completing my assignment, I have realised one thing: my handwriting has deteriorated significantly. [btw, the assignment was a total waste of my time! Filling out a million forms to complete settlement for a transfer of land ... and what is it worth? a measly 2.5%! i'll say it again, what a damn waste of my time!] Ok, so I never did have that perfect, beautiful, typewriter-esque kind of writing in the first place ... but it wasn't that bad. I tell you, its the computer to blame - especially since I got my lappy last year, I haven't had to handwrite anything apart from exam scripts and they are scrawled pieces of junk anyway! So yes, I have come to the conclusion that my handwriting has deteriorated from bad to somewhat illegible. Oh and by the way, I'm doing a new layout for my blog! :) I'm terribly sick to DEATH of this template ... so it will be up very very soon! ^^, Wednesday, May 28, 2003 I want this! Isn't this lamp absolutely adorable?! I soooooo want it ... if anyone can tell me where to get it, I will be eternally grateful :) hehe... ![]() ![]()
Tuesday, May 27, 2003 Sophie Monk Did I mention that I saw Sophie Monk on Saturday? One of those promotional shopping centre visits. It was all very unintentional ... as was the very pocket-burning experience at Garden City Shopping Centre after buying a present for my sis's 20th bday. :p SO, who is she? Apparantly she's the "sexiest" woman in Australia. But I must admit, she DID look rather gorgeous - as celebrities tend to do after the truckload of makeup applied and beautifying that has been done :o A little aggravated that they kept playing the SAME song over and over and over again ... Get The Music On. After hearing the song played continuously for the billionth time, I can say with confidence now that it is not my favourite song. I wonder if artistes ever get sick of their own songs? BUT one thing I want to find out - is she pregnant? Because she sure looked like it. But .. if she isn't, umm ... I take back that comment. Unproductive Another unproductive day. Not that I'm really complaining, damn I'm lazy ... ºÜÀÁ¶è ah!! Anyway, presentation this morning was "interesting" - he (tutor) was late as usual for the class, and we didn't cover all the material (but what's new!). Thankfully, most of the questions that were asked, I managed to answer ... and thankfully, they weren't too obscure. Or perhaps I actually understood something for once?! Oh and there was body painting this afternoon @ uni (oak lawn for those of you who know)! A couple of nekkid guys and girls (ok, so they were wearing shorts/undies ... but still!) were getting their entire bodies painted with all sorts of patterns and designs. Ah, if only i had my cam! :P Yes the guys and girls were TOPLESS, meaning a lot of peepz ogling and checking it out. But... damn I'm so jealous of those girl's bods! I tell you, one of the chicks had the ultimate bod - slim but perfectly endowed in the correct area. Green with envy. I'm in the library now, trying to get some work done. Let's see what I can accomplish for the next 3 hours that I intend to stay here :p Monday, May 26, 2003 bed time I am pretty tired, even though its "only" 2am. Very early right? :P I have been pretty slack the last couple of weeks (bar a few last minute assignment rushes) but the motivation just is NOT there. I know the next month or so is, or should be, very stressful and tiring - after all, its exam time. Ah well, anyhow, time for me to head to bed. I have been preparing for class discussion/presentation tomorrow. Its for Procedure - and boy, am I scared of getting grilled. :~~ especially, after last time's experience!! I've read through everything (most of it anyhow!) and I only can HOPE that that is enough? Hmm. Well, good luck to me ... cos I sure as hell will be needing it! Ok, good night :) Sunday, May 25, 2003 Happy Birthday sis! Ah... my sister has now finally moved from being a "teen" to start her life as a 20 year old. Another year until 21, so I will wait until then to drag out all the lovely embarrasing stories ... hehe, can't wait until then :) Anyhow, she had a little get together last night to celebrate and a few pictures to share ... ! My sis - the bday girl - and me. I don't know why we both look so... dodgy. Me + Chrissie :) ... hehe, I know you're reading this so... hey woman!! ^_^ My sis and her bf, looking at the bday cake Ahhh ... my two darling sisters. hehe... I think I'm going to get shot for putting this picture up :p The Seventh Man This question from Xiu. I was stumped but perhaps you're smarter than me and you'll be able to get the answer! :) Two cars made their way along the winding country road and came to an abrupt stop at the park's gate. Seven men got out of the two cars and were walking along a footpath when it began to rain. Six of the men began to walk faster to get out of the rain but the seventh man didn't. Ironically it was the seventh man who remained dry and the other six got soaked. Since all seven men arrived at their destination together, how was this possible? EDIT: The answer? The six men were pallbearers, carrying the 7th man in a coffin... :p |
